FOREX: Despite headline U.S. NFP beating exp., soft AHE & an unexpected 0.2%
rise in the unemp. rate triggered broad USD sales on Friday. USD/JPY touched
pullback lows of Y110.38 (visiting Y110.30 early today).
- Canada, similarly to the US, also witnessed a strong headline number, soft AHE
and a rise in the unemployment number. USD/CAD eased to C$1.3091 on Friday,
before another wave of sales pressed to C$1.3077 before pressure eased.
- EUR/USD continued its impressive run to top out at $1.1767 with eyes on
$1.1855, the 38.2% retracement of $1.2414-1.1509. EUR ignored comments from
ECB's Coeure which offered little new.
- GBP/USD closed Friday around session highs, extending to $1.3330 early this
week, with the "soft Brexit" outcome at Friday's ministerial summit aiding,
although reports pointing to potential leadership contests and lead Brexiteer
Rees-Mogg noting that he will vote against the proposed Brexit deal capping GBP
at present.
- Highlights today include speeches from BOJ Governor Kuroda, ECB's Draghi &
Nowotny, as well as BOE's Broadbent
