Dollar Steady As Market Awaits BoJ

FOREX

USD sentiment has had a steady start in Tuesday trade. The BBDXY is a touch above end Monday levels, last near 1237. Overall ranges have been tight though, as markets await the BoJ decision later.

  • USD/JPY sits at 148.10/15, little changed for the session. Earlier lows were at 147.93, keeping us well within recent ranges, as markets await the BoJ outcome. Headlines crossed earlier from the Nikkei around potential BoJ forecast revision, but these look in line with earlier reports of the potential for lower headline forecasts but steady core estimates.
  • AUD/USD is a touch above NY closing levels from Monday, last in the 0.6570/75 region. The Dec NAB business conditions survey has just printed. Confidence rebounded to -1 from -8 prior. Conditions eased though to 7 from 9 prior.
  • NZD/USD got to 0.6066, fresh lows in early trade, but we now sit back near 0.6080, little changed for the session. Earlier we had the performance of services index print, dipping to 48.8, versus 51.1 prior.
  • Outside of the upcoming BoJ decision there is little other risks event risks in Asia Pac trade today.
