DOLLAR: DXY last sits at 96.82, barely changed on the day. WTI and gold also
trade flat at writing. This occurs after the index dropped 24 pips on Friday,
which allowed it to finish the week 48 pips worse off on a weekly basis.
Greenback weakness was largely inspired by Fed easing bets, amid a bout of
dovish rhetoric from prominent Fed members, including Fed Chair Powell.
- Bears look for a break below the 21-DMA/200-DMA at 96.80/78 before turning
focus to the 96.57-60 zone, which holds the lows of Jun 12, Jun 20, Jul 2 & Jul
3. Bulls need to clear the 97.00 figure before taking aim at the 100-DMA, which
kicks in at 97.14.
- RTRS reported that according to a senior U.S. official American companies may
restart new sales to Huawei in 2-4 weeks. Meanwhile, after Asia hours on Friday
White House adviser Navarro said that investors need to show patience in the
current "quiet period" of trade talks with China.
- Empire manufacturing tally headlines the U.S. data docket today. Fed's
Williams is the sole Fed speaker, this will be the first one out of ten speeches
from Fed members scheduled for this week.
