ECB: Lagarde Q&A: Do Not See a Recession; No Question Rates are Restrictive

ECB

Q: Is a soft landing still your main scenario? Has your concern shifted from inflation to growth? Have you started to discuss where does ‘restrictive’ stop? Where does restriction end and accommodation begin?
A: On the basis of the information that we have, we do not see a recession. We are still looking at a soft landing. We are concerned about growth to the extent that it impacts inflation. We have to be particularly attentive to both.
A: There is no question that we are currently restrictive. There is also no question that we are not yet at the 2% target.
