MNI BRIEF: ECB Rates Are Still Restrictive - Lagarde

Rates remain restrictive, even after October cut, ECB head says.

MNI (LONDON) - There is "no doubt" that interest rates are still restrictive, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday, but she also noted that the Governing Council did not see the eurozone slipping into recession.

"On the basis of the information that we have, we do not see a recession. We are still looking at a soft landing. We are concerned about growth to the extent that it impacts inflation and we have to be particularly attentive to both," she added after the ECB cut rates.
