Economic Sentiment In Czechia Deteriorates

- Overall economic sentiment in Czechia slipped to 96.4 in May, missing the consensus forecast of 97.3. Both key gauges of sentiment missed consensus calls, with consumer confidence declining to 101.6 (versus 104.7 expected) and business confidence edging lower to 95.4 (versus 96.5 expected).
- In a presentation with forecasts of economic developments and monetary policy in Czechia, CNB's Tomas Holub said that the upside surprise in April inflation was driven "almost exclusively [by] food prices," but otherwise inflation is expected to stay within the target range.
