MEXICO: Economy Minister Ebrard In Washington For Trade Talks

MEXICO
  • Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard is in Washington today, alongside Deputy Economy Minister Luis Rosendo Gutierrez, for trade talks with US officials centred around aluminium and steel. Meanwhile, President Sheinbaum will hold her usual daily press conference from 1330GMT(0930ET).
  • With trade talks ongoing, and the market awaiting next developments, USDMXN continues to trade in a very tight range ahead of the NY crossover, with the pair holding around 20.34. Key support remains at 20.1343, the Jan 24 low, a clear break of which would highlight a potential reversal and open the 20.00 handle. A resumption of gains would refocus attention on the 21.00 level.
  • On the data front, the domestic calendar remains light today, ahead of January industrial production figures on Thursday. ANTAD same-store sales and nominal wage figures, both for February, as due sometime this week, with the data potentially crossing today.
