EdF Cuts Output at Two Nuclear Plants Sunday

EdF has lowered output at two nuclear reactors for some hours on Sunday amid forecasts for high renewables output and lower demand.

  • Output at the 1.3GW Cattenom 2 nuclear reactor will be reduced for four hours from 14:00 CET on Sunday to 730MW in planned works.
  • Belleville 1 output will be reduced from 1.31GW to 625MW on Sunday for four hours starting 11:30 CET.
  • Wind output in France is forecast at 3.5GW on Saturday and at 3.58GW on Sunday during base-load hours. Solar PV output is forecast at 4.16GW and 5.75GW on Saturday and Sunday respectively, during peak-load hours according to SpotRenewables.
  • French power demand is forecast to peak at 44.02GW on Saturday and at 42.32GW on Sunday according to Entso-E. RTE sees demand peaking at 45.7GW on Saturday and at 44.49GW on Sunday.
