EIA Shows Weekly Drop in Distillates and Gasoline Demand

US distillates four week average implied demand fell back towards the seasonal levels seen in 2020 with a 4% decline on the week with low fuel consumption between the planting and heating season according to Bloomberg.

  • US gasoline demand also fell on the week as expected based on OPIS and Gasbuddy data from earlier this week. Brisk gasoline demand for a number for the weeks leading up to the holiday week was followed by sharply lower demand. Despite the weekly decline the four week average remains just above the previous five year average.
