CANADA: ELECTION WATCH: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to hold press conference

at 1pm in Ottawa, likely to update plans for working with opposition parties

after he was reduced to a minority government.

-Trudeau's office said late yesterday he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump

and discussed progress on ratification of USMCA.

-See MNI story yesterday for interview with ex-House Leader Van Loan saying

there's a good chance for a stable minority government because Liberals can use

any of 3 opposition parties to pass confidence bills/budgets.

-Trudeau must soon choose new cabinet, and needs to replace Public Safety

Minister Ralph Goodale who lost his seat. He may also need to create rare

appointed cabinet positions so provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan are

represented.
