MNI BRIEF: Mexico Inflation 4.69% In May, Below Consensus

Mexico's annual INPC inflation was 4.69% in May, the Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography said on Friday, announcing a figure below the 4.82% consensus forecast. In monthly times prices fell by 0.19% compared with April.

Core inflation was 4.21%, compared to the 4.29% consensus. In April, general INPC was at 4.65%.

"Within the non-core index, on a monthly basis, the prices of agricultural products increased by 0.67%, while those of energy and government-authorized tariffs decreased by 3.00%. This was mainly due to adjustments in electricity tariffs for the warm season in 11 cities across the country," INEGI said. (See MNI INTERVIEW: Banxico Needs Better Data For More Cuts-Sanchez)
