ELECTRICITY: Denmark, Sweden to Lauch Counter Trading in 1Q25

ELECTRICITY

Nordic TSOs Energinet and Svenska kraftnat will introduce counter trading in the intraday market in March 2025 to protect the ageing Konti-Skan interconnector between Jutland and Sweden, Energinet said.

  • The move is to address wear and tear caused by increased directional changes under the new Flow-Based Market Coupling system.
  • Enspired will manage intraday market trading for DK1 on behalf of Energinet, while Svenska kraftnat will handle trading for SE3.
  • The mechanism will be implemented If day-ahead market results indicate excessive directional changes, counter trading will adjust planned flows to prevent damage.
