ELECTRICITY: German Lobby Group Calls for Extra Investment in Energy Sector
ELECTRICITY
German lobby group BDI called for an additional investment of €410bn in the energy sector between now and 2030 in order to transform the German industry, it said in a report.
- The group is calling for additional investment of €85bn in onshore wind, €54bn in offshore wind, €67bn in solar PV, €31bn in baseload power (gas-fired plant, batteries, biogas), €152bn in power grids and €21bn in hydrogen, CO2 networks and import terminals.
- The report stated Germany’s industry is becoming significantly suffering, with some energy-intensive sectors already emigrating the country. This is partly due to comparatively high energy costs – even after the energy crisis.
