ELECTRICITY: Romania Confirms Mid-November for First Renewable CfD Auction

Romania is planning its first renewable auction under the CfD scheme in mid-November to auction 1.5GW of onshore wind and solar PV projects, the energy ministry said, cited by Reuters.

  • The maximum price for solar projects is set at €78/MWh and at €82/MWh for onshore wind projects.
  • The scheme will set the price of electricity for providers at an agreed level for 15 years.
  • "Contracts for the first tender are expected to be signed by the end of this year”, the ministry said.
  • The second tender is expected to be held in 2025.
  • The CfD scheme will be supported with €3bn euros by the Modernisation Fund and will cover 5GW of renewable capacity.
