Ukraine has completed maintenance at one of its nuclear units ahead of schedule on 9 October, with now all nine power units controlled by Ukraine ready for winter operations, the energy ministry said, cited by Reuters.

  • "This year's repair campaign was of strategic importance. During the summer, planned and preventive repairs were carried out ahead of schedule, which further contributed to the stability of the electricity supply in the most difficult times for the power system," the ministry said.
  • Ukraine shut down four nuclear units on 26 August after a Russian missile attack.
  • Expert calculations showed that Ukraine’s power deficit may reach 6GW, or 30% of domestic demand, in winter 2024/25, LB news said.
