MNI BRIEF: Monetary, Fiscal Policy Need Harmony - Campos Neto
Central Bank of Brazil Governor Roberto Campos Neto pointed to persistent concerns over government expenditure.
Central Bank of Brazil Governor Roberto Campos Neto said Thursday that monetary and fiscal policy should go "hand in hand," adding that concerns over government expenditure persist.
"It's very important to go hand in hand with fiscal and monetary policy. Brazil is a fiscal case today, and Brazil has had a lot of problems in actually cutting expenditures in a structural way. We've had some attempts and some reforms, but I think that's the most important point," he said in a Bank for International Settlements (BIS) podcast hosted by Alexandre Tombini, former BCB governor.
