MNI BRIEF: NY Fed 1-Yr Inflation Expectations Jump to 4%

The New York Fed's median measure of one-year-ahead inflation expectations rose 0.6 percentage point to 4%, the seventh straight month of gains and a new high for the series.

Median inflation expectations three years out rose to 3.6% from 3.1%,the second-highest reading on record, the New York Fed said.

MNI has reported the Fed could tighten monetary policy sooner than it has signaled if inflation expectations soar. St. Louis Fed President James Bullard recently said in an interview he's mindful of inflation expectations but so far sanguine about their rise.
