Talks Held With EU Commission Over Hungarian Universities

Local news site Index.hu report that Tibor Navracsics held talks with three EU commissioners in Brussels on Wednesday, the main topic of discussion being foundation-maintained universities.
  • One of the stumbling blocks in access to frozen monies is the issue of trust funds that Orban’s government established to manage universities — which he has named party loyalists to run.
  • The Hungarian side will send a written proposal on planned judiciary changes to Brussels for a preliminary opinion, Index.hu say, and if they reach a consensus with the EU body, they will submit the necessary law amendment proposal to parliament.
