Upstream emissions from European LNG imports are 30% more polluting than estimated in the FuelEU Maritime law, a study by Energy and Environmental Research Associates on behalf of Transport & Environment showed on Monday. 

  • The study suggested the upstream emissions intensity of the EU’s LNG imports is at 24.4 gCO2e/MJ, compared with 18.5 gCO2e/MJ estimated in the EU’s law.
