  • ISM services saw a decent miss in December at 50.6 (cons 52.5) after 52.7.
  • Aside from the 50.3 for May’23 and 49.2 of Dec’22, it’s the lowest readings since the pandemic.
  • Prices paid were in line with expectations, falling to 57.4 (cons 57.3) from 58.3 at similar levels to where they averaged in 2H23.
  • Employment offered the main downward surprise, slumping a particularly surprising 7.4pts to 43.3, its lowest reading since Jul’20. Outside of the Mar/Apr’20 initial pandemic months, it’s the largest single month decline since Feb’14.
