POWER: End of Day Power Summary: French-German Feb Discount Flat On Week

The French-German February power contract discount has narrowed by around 0.3% on the week to be at around €9.86/MWh at the time of writing amid around a 10.7% on week gain in the German front-month owing to price moves in the energy complex and cooler temperatures. In contrast, the French February is tracking an 11.9% rise as higher demand is expected than the latter coupled with a 1.6GW FL3 delay start-up.

- France Base Power FEB 25 up 4.4% at 105 EUR/MWh
- Germany Base Power FEB 25 up 4% at 114.95 EUR/MWh
- EUA DEC 25 up 1% at 81.57 EUR/MT
- TTF Gas FEB 25 up 1.3% at 49.75 EUR/MWh
- Rotterdam Coal FEB 25 up 0.2% at 107 USD/MT
- TTF is holding within the €48.5/MWh to €50.8/MWh range seen in recent days as falling storage inventories continue to support prices amid tight market risk despite the forecast of mild weather in the coming days. The contract is up by around 6% on the week.
- EU ETS December 2025 allowances have remained in green towards the end of the session amid price increases in TTF and European coal. The contract is up by around 3% on the week.
- Poland’s Environment Minister Paulina Henning-Kloska highlighted challenges in setting the EU’s 2040 climate target and securing environmental laws due to divisions among member states.
- The unplanned outage at the 1.02GW BritNed power interconnector between the UK and the Netherlands has been shortened to end on 29 January 00:00CET, instead of 2 February previously scheduled.
