ENERGY: India Key Industry Output Rose 6.1% y/y in July

India’s eight key industries’ production rose by 6.1% on the year in July, compared with a growth revised up to 5.1% in June, data from the Central Statistics Office showed.

  • The infrastructure output accounts for 40% of industrial production
  • Petroleum refinery products rose 6.6% y/y vs a fall of 1.5% y/y in June
  • Electricity output rose 7.0% y/y vs a rise of 8.6% y/y in June
  • Coal rose 6.8% y/y compared to rise of 14.8% y/y in June.
  • Crude oil fell 2.9% y/y vs a fall of 2.6% y/y in June
  • Natural gas fell 1.3% y/y vs a rise of 3.3% y/y in June
