Energy Market Tweaks May Not Result in Lower Power Prices

  • Tweaks to energy market regulation may not result in lower consumer prices, writes Rzeczpospolita, as utilities may opt to fix prices in an opaque manner on a bilateral basis, providing little incentive to lower prices, according to the commodity exchange TGE.
  • CPI data takes focus Friday, with markets expecting inflation to have risen to 16.4% on the year and 0.9% on a monthly basis. A 16.4% read would mark another cycle high for inflation and comes ahead of next week’s NBP decision, at which the bank are expected to raise rates by another 25bps.
  • The Polish sovereign rating is up for review after-market at S&P, currently at A-.
