Repsol had hired advisors to find a partner for the project back in 2023. Not likely a spread mover.

  • Expansion reports that IFM, holding 15% of Naturgy, is negotiating a 25%-35% stake in Repsol's Ecoplanta methanol project, valued at EUR 800mn.
  • Ecoplanta is Repsol’s largest industrial project though its operation has been delayed from 2026 to 2028 due to regulatory and fiscal uncertainty in Spain; Repsol has halted investments in Spain amid concerns over an energy tax (due to expire at the end of the year unless extended).
  • Article also notes that Aramco’s discussion to enter Repsol Renovables are progressing albeit slowly.
