ENI Saw Sharp Drop in Egypt’s LNG Export Capacity in Q1

There was a steep reduction in LNG export capacity from Egypt in Q1, Cristian Signoretto, head of Global Gas and LNG Portfolio at Eni, said on a call with analysts, cited by Bloomberg.

  • This was attributed partly due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
  • ENI expects Egypt to import LNG from abroad in the summer 2024 period.
  • He added that next winter could represent a “window of opportunity” for Egypt to export some cargoes.
  • Egypt has halted all LNG exports from May onwards to meet is domestic needs according to local media reports.
  • This follows a rare export cargo after loading the LNG vessel Minerva Amorgos April 19. The vessel is headed to the Swinoujscie terminal of Poland could be the last to load from Egypt this season according to Platts.
