Equities Roundup: Semiconductors Rebound

  • Equities remain mixed after the bell, the DJIA reversing a large part of Monday's rally, while S&P and Nasdaq stocks gain slightly. Currently, the DJIA is down 277.16 points (-0.7%) at 39135.03, S&P E-Minis up 10.25 points (0.19%) at 5527.25, Nasdaq up 179.1 points (1%) at 17676.21.
  • Communication Services and Information Technology sectors lead gainers in the first half, interactive media and entertainment shares buoyed the former: Meta +1.78%, Google +1.46%, Charter Communications +1.43%.
  • Semiconductor stocks supported the IT sector as they recovered from better selling since last Friday: Nvidia trades +3.45% after Monday's near 5% decline. Meanwhile Skyworks Solutions +1.82%, Monolithic Power +1.35%.
  • On the flipside, Real Estate and Materials sectors underperformed in the first half, investment trusts weighing on the former: Weyerhaeuser -2.20%, Healthpeak Properties -2.14%, SBA Communications -2.11%.
  • Metals and mining shares weighed on the Materials sector: Nucor -2.68%, Steel Dynamics -1.52%, Newmont Corp -1.13%.
