Erases Gains In NY, Data Docket Empty Today

USD/JPY prints at ¥148.35/40, the pair was unchanged on Tuesday.

  • The Yen erased its gains seen in yesterday's Asian session through NY yesterday after dealing in narrow ranges through Europe.
  • The bid in the USD seen alongside pressure on US Equities which extended after the FOMC minutes saw USD/JPY move higher as position squaring ahead of the US holiday added a level of support to the greenback.
  • A reminder that in yesterday's Asian session USD/JPY broke key support at ¥147.43, the Yen was up as much as ~0.8%.
  • Technically there is a short term bearish trend for USD/JPY. Support comes in at ¥147.15, Nov 21 low, and ¥146.00, trendline support drawn from Mar 24 low. Resistance is at ¥149.16, 50-Day EMA.
  • The data docket is empty today, the next release of note is Friday's October National CPI.
