Erdogan Agrees to Turkish Hub for Russian Gas

NATURAL GAS

Turkey will create a gas hub in the country for Russian gas which can be supplied to Europe according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today.

  • "In Europe they are now dealing with the question of how to stay warm in the coming winter. We don’t have such a problem. We have agreed with Vladimir Putin to create a gas hub in our country, through which natural gas, as he says, can be delivered to Europe. Thus, Europe will order gas from Turkey," he said.
  • Putin and Gazprom’s CEO first touted the idea last week which has been publicly supported by Erdogan and Turkish officials. Erdogan said he is in favor of establishing the hub as soon as possible and the most suitable place for it is the Thrace region in the European side of Turkey.
