Eskom Implements Stage 2 Load-Shedding as 9 Generating Units Go Down

  • Eskom says stage 2 load-shedding must be implemented due to severe generation capacity constraints
  • This comes from delays in getting generators back to service as well as breakdowns in 9 generators* since yesterday a unit at Lethabo, Tukuta, Ingula, Drakensberg, Arnot and two units at Hendrina & Matla plants suffered breakdowns
  • further delays in returning units at Arnot, Kendal & three units at Tukuta are reported
  • Eskom expects many of these generators to return to service over the coming days but will be uing emergency reserves in the interim - Statement
