EU & Argentina Discuss 'Safe And Fair' Supply Chains

  • On Tuesday, top EU diplomat Josep Borrell and Argentinian Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero discussed strengthening supply chains between the bloc and the South American country amid high energy and food prices in Europe.
  • Diplomats discussed the strategic role food and energy production play and Argentina's potential role as a provider of clean energy, food and strategically important raw materials.
    • "The cooperation between CELAC and the EU is very important in these uncertain times," Cafiero said, adding that together "we can build safe and fair supply chains."
    • Borrell advocated for the implementation of the free-trade agreement with the Mercosur states in South America, which is currently on hold. (DPA)
