EU Carbon Allowances Extend Losses

The EUA Dec 24 settlement is extending earlier losses amid declines in European gas benchmark prices, but despite a slight increase in bidding volumes on the day, following Monday’s low due to public holiday in most parts of CWE Europe.

    • EUA DEC 24 down 1.2% at 73.36 EUR/MT
  • Tuesday’s EU ETS CAP3 EU auction cleared slightly higher at €71.80/ton CO2e, up from €71.24/t CO2e in the previous auction held on 20 May according to EEX.
  • The cover ratio in Tuesday’s auction was at 1.51 with a total of 24 bidders and 26 successful bidders. Bidding volumes rose to 4.685mn, up from 4.234mn the day prior.
  • The total auction volume amounted to 3.1mn tons CO2e.
