EU COM: BXL Will Consider Support For Firms Hit By Lithuania-China Spat

European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton has been speaking on the EU's standardisation strategy. Comments regarding Lithuania-China row seem to indicate a greater degree of EU support for Vilnius.

  • Giorgio Leali at Politico tweets: "Breton says he will go to Lithuania “in the coming days”- talks with China on economic pressure on the Baltic country proved to be “vain” - Brussels will consider support measures to affected companies- “when an EU country is attacked, the whole Europe is attacked
  • Comes after the EU launched a WTO legal case against China for its putitive trade measures imposed on Lithuania following the opening of a Taiwan representative office in Vilnius.
