The latest EU ETS CAP3 auction cleared higher at €79.06/ton CO2e, up from €77.30/ton CO2e in the previous auction and the highest since 30 October 2023 according to EEX.

  • The auction cleared at a 0.15€/ton CO2e discount to the futures contract, compared with a 0.09€/ton CO2e discount in the previous session. 
  • The cover ratio was at 1.50, compared with 1.53 in the previous auction and below the five-year minimum.
  • There was a total of 26 bids with 22 successful bids.
  • The mean price was at €79.34/t CO2e and the median price was at €79.01/t CO2e.
  • EU ETS December 2025 allowances are trading at the highest since 2 January 2024 today, closely tracking gains in EU gas, after seeing the first decline after nine sessions higher on Wednesday.
    • EUA DEC 25 up 3.1% at 81.41 EUR/MT
