EURO-YEN: EUR/JPY last deals at Y128.87, 44 pips higher on the day after it
opened on the front foot, pulled up by the news flow from over the weekend.
- EUR benefitted as markets absorbed comments from Italy's FinMin Tria
signalling readiness to work on a compromise re: budget matters with the EU,
with Italian PM Conte also seeming somewhat more open to dialogue.
- Meanwhile, JPY has struggled thus far as demand for safe haven assets was
limited after the U.S. and China agreed on a ceasefire in their trade war.
- Bulls need a move through the Y129.00 figure before targeting Y129.30, where
the rate peaked Friday. On the downside, initial support is located at Friday's
lows of Y128.42 and a break below that level would open up the Nov 28 low at
Y128.25.
