Europe Increases Russian LNG Imports 20% in 2022

Russian LNG volumes to Europe rose by 20% in 2022 versus the year prior according to Refinitiv figures.

  • Russia increased its total LNG exports in 2022 by 8.6% to around 33 million tonnes (around 45 billion cubic metres), of which more than half was shipped to Europe.
  • Russia's largest LNG producer Novatek provided the bulk of volumes, shipping 20.8 million tonnes from the Yamal LNG project in the Arctic and 700,000 tonnes from Kriogaz-Vysotsk on the Baltic Sea.
