POWER

Europe is expected to sign a total volume of 21GW in PPAs this year, up by 3GW from 2023, Aurora Energy Research said.

  • “Based on deals signed more or less to date, we can expect to see another bumper year for the European PPA market,” Ryan Alexander, project lead at Aurora, said, cited by Montel.
  • The PPA market in Spain is expected to be oversupplies by 2030 due to the country’s solar PV capacity expansion that are likely not subsidised.
  • The German market, however, is likely to be undersupplies by the end of the decade due to strong PPA demand amid companies’ decarbonisation targets and higher demand from electrolysers.
  • In addition, many German renewable facilities are under the country’s subsidy scheme and therefore unavailable for PPAs.
