European PPA Prices Climb to 2024 High

European power purchased agreements (PPAs) increased to their highest this year on 23 May, edging up by €0.67/MWh – supported by gains in gas, EU ETS and power in the previous session, according to latest data from energy pricing firm Pexapark. PPA prices could be dented today amid lower prices in the energy complex.

  • EU PPA prices increased to €51.03/MWh on 23 May from €50.36/MWh on 22 May. This is the highest EU PPA prices have been since 27 December 2023.
  • PPA prices in the UK increased the most, up 3.58%, with France and Germany, respectively, up 2.42% and 1.03%.
  • PPA price increases on the day were the smallest in Poland and the Netherlands at just 0.92% 0.26%, respectively.
  • PPA prices in the Netherlands previously gained 1.93% on 22 May.
  • EU PPA prices in Portugal, Spain, Nordics, and Italy were also higher on the day.
  • Solar PPA prices continued upward, increasing by 1.56%, with offshore and onshore PPAs up 2.34% and 1.48%, respectively, compared to a 1.35% and 0.39%, rise in the previous session.

  • EUA DEC 24 down 1.6% at 74.61 EUR/MT
  • Germany Base Pwr JUN 24 down 1.9% at 75 EUR/MWh
