US DATA: Factory orders in April plummeted -13.0% to $384.3 billion,the largest
m/m drop in the history of the report, though the decline fell short of the
-13.4% markets expected. March's factory orders were revised down to -11.0%
(previously -10.4%). This morning's Census Bureau report shows new factory
orders down three out of the last four months. New orders for durable goods also
plunged -17.7% to $168.7 billion, a deeper drop than the -17.2% decline shown in
last week's advance report for new durable goods orders. New factory orders
excluding defense showed a -12.3% decline alongside a -8.5% decline in new
factory orders excluding transportation.
