FID for Blackcomb Permian Pipeline

NATGAS

The proposed Blackcomb Pipeline’s FID was announced July 31, offering hope of further gas pipeline capacity to address a growing bottleneck in the region.

  • The 2.5 bcf/d Blackcomb Pipeline will stretch from the Permian Basin in West Texas to Agua Dulce in South Texas.
  • The pipeline is expected to start operations in H2 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
  • The FID will be viewed positively given the ongoing bottleneck for gas capacity in the region.
  • The Waha gas hub has turned negative a record number of times in 2024, amid a lack of outlets for strong production levels in the basin. This has been despite rising cooling demand.
  • Among other projects looking to expand capacity, Reuters noted the most advanced are: Kinder Morgan’s 0.57 bcf/d Gulf Coast expansion and Energy Transfer’s 1.5 bcf/d Warrior.
