Final Test Of GOP Establishment In NH Primary Elections Tomorrow

US

The final batch of GOP midterm primary elections will take place in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Delaware tomorrow. The primaries will again pit the Republican establishment against the more radical fringe of the party - a regular theme of this midterm season.

  • The race to select a GOP candidate to challenge for incumbent Senator Maggie Hassan’s (D-NH) crucial New Hampshire Senate seat will be the most closely watched race.
  • Hassan won the seat in 2016 by a razor thin margin and the race has been identified by the GOP as a potential flip in November.
  • Retired Army General Don Bolduc and state Senate President Chuck Morse are frontrunners to take the GOP nomination.
  • Bolduc has challenged the 2020 election result and called Republican Governor of New Hampshire Chris Sununu (R-NH) a “communist sympathizer.”
  • Sununu, initiated courted by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as a potential Senate candidate, before opting to run for a fourth term in the governor’s mansion, has endorsed Morse, the more moderate candidate.
