Finance Minister Concerned Over Banxico Bill, AMLO Optimistic For 2021

Potential further problems regarding the Banxico Bill may still arise:


Mexican Fin Min Herrera on Wednesday criticized a divisive bill proposed by the country's ruling party that would force the central bank to buy foreign cash commercial banks are unable to return to the financial system.
"This change would only transfer the problem commercial banks have to the central bank because the central bank would have the same problem: how to export dollars," Herrera told Reuters.


Separately, asked during a regular news conference how confident he was heading into 2021, when Mexico holds legislative elections in June, AMLO said he was optimistic. He then asked aides to project an ongoing survey of 13 world leaders' approval ratings. AMLO is currently ranked second behind India's Modi in terms of net approval rating.
