Finance Minister to Release Q2 Structural Reform Report

  • Bloomberg reports that Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele and Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana will release the Operation Vulindlela second-quarter report this morning. This will provide a progress update on plans to speed up structural reforms aimed at boosting economic growth. Operation Vulindlela focuses on reforms in five prioritised areas including energy, digital communications, water, transport and visas.
  • Business Report write on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s meeting with Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi yesterday where negotiations begun for Eskom to import excess electricity from Botswana in a bid to curb the 6000MW electricity shortage on the grid.
  • There are no major data releases scheduled for today after the central bank released net reserve figures for July (which printed slightly below June figures) earlier this morning.
