Finance Ministry Ramps Up Bond Issuance

  • Discussing a planned revamp of social benefit payments, Labour Minister Marian Jurecka said that they will be more targeted towards vulnerable groups. The child benefit, housing allowance and several other schemes may be replaced by a new unified "super benefit" from January.
  • Czechia's main trade union is looking to hold protests against pension system reforms and call for higher salaries in the public sector, according to its leader Josef Stredula, whose term has just been renewed.
  • The Finance Ministry will increase CZGB issuance next month, offering CZK23bn for sale up from CZK19bn this month. The Ministry also wants to issue EUR200mn and CZK15bn of T-bills in April.
  • Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky will today meet with chief diplomats from Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia to discuss various foreign policy issues.
