Finder.com.au Finds Households Missing Repayments Due To Rate Rises

AUSTRALIA

Finder.com.au, a mortgage comparison website, has reported that 13% of mortgage holders have missed a repayment in the last 6 months with 37% of those being due to increased rates. 33% had missed a payment due to forgetfulness and another 26% due to lack of funds after bills had been paid. 6% had missed multiple payments.

  • 15% of mortgage holders believe that they will miss a repayment in the next 6 months if mortgage costs rise further. Only 2% have already asked for a mortgage holiday or other assistance from their lender.
  • It is worth noting that of the 1054 respondents to the survey, 313 had a mortgage – a fairly small sample size.
