POWER: Fingrid to Raise Procurment Volumes for Frequency Control Products

 Fingrid will boost reserve procurement volumes for frequency-controlled disturbance products starting 1 January 2025 to address growing electricity system fluctuations, it said.

  • mFRR downregulation reserves will increase to 515MW in January, 545MW in February, and 575MW in March, with Fingrid securing capacity through the Hourly Regulation Capacity Market.
  • FCR-D downregulation reserves will rise to 280MW in January, 286MW in February, and 293MW in March.
  • The FCR-D downregulation product was introduced in 2022 in the Nordic countries, with a total reserve requirement of 1.4GW.
  • Fingrid’s share for 2025 is 293MW, reaching full procurement volume by 1 March.
