FM Spox: 'Pause In Nuclear Talks Could Give Momentum To Resolve Issues'

Iranian Foreign Ministry spox Saeed Khatibzadeh tweets: "Pause in Vienna Talks could be a momentum for resolving any remaining issue and a final return. Successful conclusion of talks will be the main focus of all. No external factor will affect our joint will to go forward for a collective agreement."

  • Khatibzadeh's comment comes in the wake of EU foreign policy chief Borrell's tweet calling for a pause in talks on the Iran nuclear deal (see1042GMT bullet).
  • Russian demands seemingly proving a major obstacle to a deal being struck to bring Iran back into complaince with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA, the Iran nuclear deal). On 5 March, Russian Foreign Min Lavrov issued demand that a deal must “not in any way damage our right to free and full trade, economic and investment cooperation, and military-technical cooperation with the Islamic State [of Iran]”.
