FOMC Minutes: NatWest Focus On Taper Detail, Wrightson ICAP Eyes Logan Speech

NatWest sees "potential" for the September FOMC minutes to be "very interesting" despite a lack of policy drama at the meeting.

  • Their focus is on "expressed views on the timing and size of tapering."

Wrightson ICAP says the minutes "may shed some light on the likely pace and composition of the Fed's QE cutbacks (which we suspect are still on the table despite Friday's payroll figure)."

  • They also point out that NY Fed's Logan speaks on Thursday on "Monetary policy implementation: adapting to a new environment": "We always pay attention when the Manager of the System Open Market Account schedules a talk on the day after the release of a potentially interesting set of FOMC minutes."
