Four More House Dems Call For Biden Withdrawal

US

Representatives Jared Huffman (D-CA), Marc Veasey (D-TX), Chuy Garcia (D-IL) and Mark Pocan (D-WI) have released a joint message to President Joe Biden calling for his withdrawal from the presidential race. The letter says that in spite of their "great admiration for you personally", "At this point, however, we must face the reality that widespread public concerns about your age and fitness are jeopardizing what should be a winning campaign...We believe the most responsible and patriotic thing you can do in this moment is to step aside as our nominee..."

  • The message says the "Democrats have a deep and talented bench of younger leaders, led by Vice President Kamala Harris..."
  • These four lawmakers come in addition to Sean Casten (D-IL-'s earlier call for Biden's withdrawal.
  • Earlier, chair of the Biden For President campaign Jen O'Malley Dillon said that Biden was 'absolutely' remaining in the race, and claimed that the loss of support "has been a small movement."
  • However, events may be overtaking O'Malley Dillon's comments as the number of Democrat lawmakers calling openly for Biden's withdrawal continues to tick up.
