POWER: FR-IT JAO CBC Jan Auction Clears Much Higher On Year

Allocated capacity on the Jao monthly CBC auction for delivery in January 2025 in the French-Italian direction increased sharply on the year, with allocated capacity also dropping slightly, latest data from Jao show.

  • All of the 1.3GW of offered capacity in the France-Italy direction was allocated at €35.88/MWh for January 2025 delivery.
  • This compares with 1.331GW allocated in the same direction at €23.41/MWh for January 2024 delivery.
  • In the other direction, all of the 127MW of offered capacity was allocated at €1.39/MWh for January 2025 delivery.
  • This is compared with 349MW allocated at €0.66/MWh for delivery in the same month last year.
  • This places the inferred FR-IT spread for January 2025 at €34.49/MWh compared to €22.75/MWh for January 2024 delivery.
  • The French January 2025 power base-load contract stood at a €32.31/MWh discount to the Italian equivalent at the time of writing.
