France Awards Funding for First 250MW Floating Offshore Wind Farm

The French government awarded the first funding for a 250MW floating offshore wind farm, French industry minister Roland Lescure said on Wednesday.

  • A consortium under the name Pennavel consisting of Germany’s BayWa Re and Belgium’s Elicio won a tender to the develop the Bretagne Sud floating offshore wind farm.
  • Pennavel secured a CfD for the project at a price of €86.45/MWh, the ministry of economy said.
  • Earlier this month France launched a tender for four offshore wind projects totalling 2.5GW and announced plans for another 10 GW later this year.
  • France aims to have 18GW of offshore wind capacity in operation in 2035 and at least 45GW in 2050.
